This book comes from my teacher heart to teachers around the world.
The first half of my teaching career was so overwhelming and frustrating to me. It was nothing as I had imagined when I used to play school all summer long in my backyard as a child. I feel that I was called to be a teacher, but when I got my first classroom things went downhill- FAST.
After several years and failed attempts to work myself into feeling better, I decided to stop the madness. I knew if I was going to stay in the profession I was called to I had to make a change. I decided to go inside of myself and figure out how to make what I believed was right and wonderful about teaching mesh with all the crud I was dealing with on a daily basis in my classroom.
Bingo! This is where the answers were. The truth was inside the whole time. After teaching the second half of my career being authentically, joyfully, successfully me I knew I had to share how the steps I used to make this transformation with teachers all over the world.
You are not alone, everyone feels the way you do. Take my book, my life, my experience, these steps and move yourself back to the joy in teaching you dreamed of when you first knew you wanted to be a teacher.

Wynn Godbold is an author, speaker, consultant, and expert in joyful teaching. She is passionate about empowering educators to release their feelings of overwhelm and frustration and find the balance they need to flourish in their calling.
Her teacher retreats are known to empower teachers to love their lives. Teachers worldwide experience personal growth through the products and packages she offers on line.
In June of 2012, Wynn kick started the International Academy of Bee Sharp Teachers. Wynn is Nationally Board Certified in Reading and the Language Arts. She has certifications in Education Administration, Elementary and Early Childhood Education. In addition to running Bee Sharp, she consults for the McGraw Hill Education Group and serves on the Educational Team at Page Turner Adventures.
Wynn lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with her husband Rett and their two boys: Matthew and Cooper. They all enjoy the family dog JR and their talkative cat, Spooky.

Brilliant, passionate, informative

Ms Godbold delivers amazing strategies for teachers who are passionate about their calling but dealing with constant overwhelm and frustration. It is an inspiring book filled with tools to create balance and bring joy back into the profession.

I loved this book

I loved this book! Wynn really pointed out the necessity in keeping things light-hearted, fun, and engaging when it comes to teaching students in the 21st century! She pretty much tells you to not sweat the small stuff--- it's an absolute waste of your time, energy, and spirit! As a teacher, I can relate to Wynn's messages interwoven throughout her pages. Why would I compare myself to other teachers; especially the ones that carry the biggest bag home??? That's kind of dumb if you think about it-- carrying all that work home after a long hard day's work. But, I have done that many a time! Wynn makes you realize through her book the power of positive energy...you have to stay away from negativity. I myself can sometimes let that suck me in. Like she says, when the higher-ups pass down the new curriculum demands for the year; we shouldn't let ourselves become so stressed... we all know that nothing in education lasts that long. Wynn points out to always trust yourself, and most of all, stay positive for your students! Great read for any new teacher or anyone needing a new perspective.

Fountain Teacher

This book was helpful to me this, my fifth, year teaching; and I can easily see how it would be helpful for a first year teacher - I wish I had had something like this to read my first year. It is very encouraging and teaches teachers how to be in control of their own lives, regardless of how many (meaningless, overwhelming, time-consuming, endless paperwork, etc) mandates rain down on us teachers. Ms. Godbold writes in a soothing tone that shows teachers EXACTLY how to be in control of their own teaching and their own lives. She is careful, too, to say that this is no easy change or fix - such a thing does not exist. But she gives the stepping stones for how to be the great teacher that we were called to be!
As I read "How to Be a Great Teacher," I took notes and ACTIVELY read. I realized that I am not alone in the overwhelming stress I feel at times. I also learned how to deal with that in a positive way that will help me grow as a teacher. Loved it and giving a copy to my new-teacher friend!
