A story of a life regained.

I want to recommend a book, Angels on our Shoulders by Zach Graboyes. I read it in one sitting. Zach is the son of a good friend of mine. He is currently attending Penn State. When Zach was ten he was in a catastrophic accident and suffered major brain injuries as well other trauma's. This is the story of Zach'a recovery. It's a perceptive moving story of Zach's viewpoint. Others come in and out of the story but Zach is at his best telling you what he felt, what he heard. It's a touching insight into a difficult period in the life of young man. Interestingly he is the only one in the book who has no memory of the car accident.
Did I cry? No. This is a story of a success, of a son, a father, a mother who made sure "Nothing's going to harm you!"
Ok. That's not true. I did choke up when Zach writes of his best friend Jake. Jake is THE best friend, the first to feel Zach squeeze a hand. Then sadly "Jake, well Jake got scared. He honestly did not really support me after my accident." This is sad. Real but sad.
